- Attract backlinks to your site generating additional referrals from Webmasters who will return the favor by linking back to you

- Increase your PageRank by attracting increased links from other Webmasters, social bookmarking sites etc. all on similar topics thus building your sites relevance with search engines
DON'T make the mistake of thinking that adding links invites readers to leave your site for another destination or that somehow lots of links are a feature of the blogging world and make the stand alone site look unprofessional.
