Adding a DIY HTML link to your Website is easy once you know how.
Below, Web designer Dorian Winterfield gives us an overview:
Creating an HTML Hyperlink: Part 2 -- powered by eHow.com
Creating links to relevant sites related to your topic can:
- Attract backlinks to your site generating additional referrals from Webmasters who will return the favor by linking back to you
- Increase the links to your site as an important resource for articles, Websites and blogs on similar topics across the World Wide Web
- Increase your PageRank by attracting increased links from other Webmasters, social bookmarking sites etc. all on similar topics thus building your sites relevance with search engines
DON'T make the mistake of thinking that adding links invites readers to leave your site for another destination or that somehow lots of links are a feature of the blogging world and make the stand alone site look unprofessional.
Links to resources outside your Website increase its value making it a portal to related topics and increasing its relevants to searchers. Certainly ALL Web designers should take ProBlogger Darren Rowse's advice and "Link like crazy". You'll be glad you did.
